Summary
Christians believe that Jesus will return to earth at the end of the age. This is one of our core doctrines, and it fills us with hope for the future. But sometimes it also leaves us with a question: How should we live in the meantime? That is the question Jesus takes up in the second half of the Olivet Discourse, the sermon He preached in Mathew 24-25. The first part of His answer, the one we find in today’s passage, is that we should be vigilant. In this sermon, we explore what it means to watch vigilantly for Christ’s return by focusing on two reasons this is so important.
