What does wisdom look like? There are a surprising number of ways to answer that question. Some people think of wisdom as a philosopher sitting on a mountain top, pondering the mysteries of life. Others see wisdom as equivalent to intelligence; if someone knows a lot about a particular subject, that person is wise about that subject. Still others associate wisdom with experience. If someone lives a long time, we might say that person is wise. In this passage, though, James defines wisdom in a different way. In this sermon, we explore God’s definition of wisdom by comparing two basic ways to think about this important concept.
