Ground Rules for Gratitude

“The worst moment for the atheist,” G. K. Chesterton famously wrote, “is when he is really thankful and has nobody to thank.” What’s even worse is that sometimes God’s own people fall into the same trap. Sometimes we become so enamored with the gifts that we forget to thank the Giver. Psalm 100 is designed to keep us from making that mistake. In this psalm of thanksgiving, we learn that one of the greatest joys of the Christian life is to celebrate God by giving Him thanks.
