Gimpers

Exactly what is a Gimper?  It's a furniture-builder's term for a person who always does a little more than what's required or expected.  That's our name for the Sr. High Youth Group.  We want to be known as Gimpers for God!  Our normal meetings are year-round on Sunday evenings at 7:00.  We meet at the church and are normally done around 9:00.  Bible studies include a four-year rotation on God's power and design through creation (Genesis), God's plan for romance, love and sex (Song of Solomon) and an evangelistic training program geared towards youth.

But that's not all. In addition to servanthood projects (like cleaning homes and doing yard work) and raising money for mission trips (Mystery Dinner), we also have a four-year rotation planned for summer events. Challenge, the EFCA's biennial youth gathering, fills up two of those years. It was last held in July 2008 and is a great opportunity for spiritual growth in our youth and for building unity within the group.  The other two years are split between a local missions project like Bethany Camp in nearby Brayton or working with the Whitewater Mission to the Navajo in New Mexico. All these projects help build in our youth a heart for servanthood and give a taste of the short-term mission field.
