Where do I Belong?

Dear parents,

We’ve wrapped up our series on three big questions that we must ask as we journey toward greater freedom in Christ. Our final lesson examined the question “Where do I fit in?” Our conversation focused on Colossians 3, and we explored several truths about how God has a place for us in eternity, in the body of Christ, and in this world.

As you go through the week, consider using these questions to fuel some great conversation with your teenager:

  • Why are most teenagers concerned about where they fit in? Why is it such an important issue at your stage of life?
  • How can sharing the good news of Jesus with other people help you experience greater freedom from life’s hurts and unhealthy habits?
  • It’s easy to live for temporary things. It’s easy to live in the “right now.” Are temporary things getting too much attention? How can you focus more on things with eternal value?

This Weeks Challenge: How can we make sure that our youth ministry and our church are places that people feel welcome and know they belong? If you don’t feel like you belong talk to one of the leaders about it. Christ wants to give you a place to belong and we value you and want you to belong here.

As we continue to pursue our relationship with God. Reading his word is a huge part of it. Here are some passages to read this week. Read Galatians 3:26-28, 1 Peter 2:9-10, 1 John 3:1-2, and 1 John 4:4. Summarize the big ideas about “belonging” or “fitting in” that you uncover in these Scriptures.

Memory Verse:

“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth” (Colossians 3:2)

Thanks for your continued prayers for our students and our ministry. I’m praying for you and your family, too!
